CANON POINT: Beginning of chapter 3, after listening to Kyle's sad story.

BACKGROUND: Spooky doesn't remember anything about his life prior to age 13, but being pulled into hell on your 13th birthday can do that to a person. Spooky spent the next year fighting monsters and learning how to use magic in order to survive. He had a lot of experiences that shaped him and the person he came to be later on in life. It was exactly a year later, on his 14th birthday, that Spooky was able to summon enough magic escape Hell in order to prevent a major demonic invasion of the human plane. After he was found by the police dragging around the head of a demon, he came to meet someone who would help him find his purpose in life. Amanda Charleyboy, the daughter of a general in the US army, was able to reach out to him when he was still doubting whether or not he'd really made it back to earth. She was able to affirm by using her telepathic abilities that he was home and that his time in hell hadn't turned him into a monster like he had quietly feared. This was also the moment where he chose his new name, announcing to the world that he was Spooky Jones.

Only weeks after his escape from hell, Spooky was already an active hero working on hunting down demons and insane magic users and stopping them from using their powers to harm people around them. This is also the point where Spooky's sexual awakening really kicked in. In spite of the things he went through, he came out of hell with a sense of humor and a lot of compassion towards people. He's been through several relationships over the years, including a short lived one with Amanda herself. He even caused a minor scandal when as a teen hero he dated a college journalist. (When it came out later on in her career it caused quite a buzz.)

Spooky's skill with magic, and the fact that he was one of the few mages on earth who wasn't bug-fuck insane, made him a highly sought after hero. He was offered membership with several regional teams, though he turned all of them down in order to join Amanda's Young Protectors team. Along with his fellow teammates he worked to save people in dangerous situations. Their missions were largely search and rescue type work due to the fact that the larger hero community disapproved of younger heroes actively fighting villains and criminals. Spooky found a sort of family with the Young Protectors and even though he still did solo work fighting the crazies and demons he was always dedicated to the team.

Of course, nothing can ever go smoothly forever. Kyle, one of Spooky's teammates, was quietly seduced by The Annihilator, one of the greatest villains of the century, unbeknownst to the team at large. This seduction culminated in Kyle being used to open a portal to hell on his 18th birthday. (If you couldn't tell, birthdays are very magically significant.) It turns out that the villain had brokered a deal with a king of hell to gain immortality in exchange for allowing the creature passage onto the mortal plan. In the aftermath, when Kyle called his friends for help they went to his side to help to try and repair the emotional damage done to him. This led to Spooky opening up about his own time in hell in order to comfort Kyle before helping to decide on a plan of action to stop the Annihilator from creating a literal hell on earth scenario.

INCENTIVE: In Spooky's world he's one of two magic users who haven't been driven insane by the after-effects of an ancient ritual that ended up weakening the walls separating earth from the dimensions of hell. In exchange for time served in Eudio he'd like to restore the minds of all the mages back to sanity.

FIT: Possibly as a side effect of his time in hell, Spooky is... very interested in sex and intimacy with others. He's been described by his friends and fellow heroes as charismatic and his interest in all things sexy is well known. Even when faced with art drawn by fans of the team, Spooky embraced their enthusiasm and wasn't bothered by it in the slightest. Overall he's someone who really enjoys being close to others and being close to them.

CONSENT: More than most, Spooky understands how important consent is when dealing with other people. During his year in hell he encountered many demons who mentally manipulated him into thinking he wanted things. That has since colored all of his interactions with people he's into. He also made sure to point out to his friend Kyle after he was tricked into something by a villain that it still counts as a violation of consent if you were manipulated into it by someone with bad intentions.
